 Robert Dawidoff, is a Professor of History at the Claremont Graduate University. He specializes in American intellectual and cultural history.
His books include The Education of John Randolph, The Genteel Tradition and the Sacred Rage, Making History Matter, and (with Michael Nava) Created Equal: Why Gay Rights Matter to Americans. He is presently completing The Oblique Bargain : The American History of the Gay Male Closet.
